Tungsten Carbide Plates

Introduction to Tungsten Carbide Plates

Classification:

  • Tungsten carbide plates are high-performance flat materials made from cemented carbide, primarily composed of tungsten carbide (WC) particles bonded with a metal binder such as cobalt (Co). These plates are known for their exceptional hardness, wear resistance, and mechanical strength, making them ideal for use in abrasive, high-pressure, and high-impact environments.

    Material Properties

Tungsten carbide plates exhibit the following key properties:

    • Extremely high hardness (typically above HRA 89)

    • Excellent wear and abrasion resistance

    • High compressive strength

    • Good thermal and chemical stability

    • Customizable toughness by adjusting WC grain size and cobalt content

Grades can be tailored for specific applications by altering the carbide-binder ratio, grain size, and sintering process.

    Common Specifications

    • Sizes: Available in standard or custom lengths, widths, and thicknesses (commonly 1 mm to 30 mm thick)

    • Shapes: Rectangular, square, or as per customer drawings

    • Surface finish: Ground or unground (sintered surface)

    Applications

Tungsten carbide plates are widely used in:

    • Wear parts: Liners, guides, baffles

    • Tooling: Punch dies, shear blades, cold heading dies

    • Mining and construction tools

    • Woodworking and metalworking cutting tools

    • Military and ballistic armor protection

    • Thermal spraying and hard-facing substrates

    Advantages

    • Long service life, even under harsh conditions

    • Resistance to deformation and cracking under heavy loads

    • Stable performance at elevated temperatures

    • Highly customizable in terms of size, shape, and grade
