Tungsten electrode

Tungsten electrode, it is a tungsten electrode made of materials with high melting point, corrosion resistance, high density, good thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity. Tungsten electrodes are widely used for welding in its properties. Tungsten electrodes are ground or polished and black rods. The final color is different, you can tell the difference. In tungsten electrodes, more importantly, their final color is different, tungsten content is also different. When welding, choose the correct tungsten electrode to make welding easier, it is important to obtain the high quality welding. Some important factors to consider when making the right choice are the type of power supply (inverter or transformer), welding material (steel, aluminum or stainless steel) and material thickness.

Classification:

  • Tungsten electrode type

Pure tungsten electrode, green coated head, purity above 99.95%.

Thorium tungsten electrode, yellow, red, purple, orange head, added 1 ~ 4% of thorium oxide.

Cerium tungsten electrode, gray head, with 2% cerium oxide added.

Lanthanum tungsten electrodes, blue and gold tinted heads, with 1.5 and 2% lanthanum oxide added.

Zirconium tungsten electrodes, white and brown coated heads, with 0.3 and 0.8 percent zirconia added.

Yttrium tungsten electrode, blue head, with 2% yttrium oxide added.

The composite tungsten electrode, blue head, is a ternary composite electrode added with cerium oxide, yttrium oxide and lanthanum oxide.

    Product characteristics

Tungsten electrode plays an important role in arc starting, arc stability and welding quality in TIG welding. The loss of mass of the tungsten electrode under the action of the high temperature of the arc is called the ablation of the tungsten electrode. In order to facilitate the discussion of the ablation mechanism of the tungsten electrode, the ablation can be divided into the ablation of the added oxide and the ablation of the tungsten itself.

    Product use

▲ TIG welding: Tungsten electrode plays a key role in TIG(Tungsten Inert Gas, argon tungsten arc welding) welding. This welding method is usually used for the welding of stainless steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, copper alloy and other materials. Tungsten alloy strips are made by doping rare earth elements (such as cerium, lanthanum, zirconium, yttrium, etc.) in the tungsten matrix, and then processed by pressure to make tungsten electrodes of various specifications. These electrodes can maintain a stable arc during the welding process and ensure the welding quality.

▲ Electronic equipment and process: As a commonly used conductive material, tungsten electrode is widely used in various electronic equipment and processes. Its good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance make it perform well in applications that require high currents, such as electrolytic processes.

▲ Other welding methods: In addition to TIG welding, tungsten electrodes can also be used for other types of welding, such as non-melting electrode gas shielded welding. In these welding methods, the tungsten electrode also plays a key role to ensure the stability of the welding process and welding quality.

▲ Semiconductor and aerospace fields: Tungsten electrodes are also used in these high-tech fields. For example, in the semiconductor manufacturing process, tungsten electrodes can be used for evaporation sources; in the aerospace field, tungsten electrodes can be used to manufacture key components such as engines.
