Tungsten Copper Alloy (W-Cu Alloy)

W-Cu alloys offer an excellent balance of conductivity and durability, making them essential for critical environments where conventional materials may fail. Custom sizes, shapes, and surface treatments are available upon request.

Classification:

  • Tungsten copper alloy is a composite material that combines the high thermal and electrical conductivity of copper with the high melting point, strength, and arc resistance of tungsten. This unique combination makes W-Cu alloys ideal for applications that require excellent thermal management, electrical performance, and resistance to wear and extreme temperatures.

Typically manufactured through powder metallurgy, W-Cu alloys are available in various compositions (commonly 70W/30Cu, 80W/20Cu, etc.) to meet different functional requirements. These alloys are widely used in aerospace, electronics, power generation, and metalworking industries.

    Key Features:

    • High thermal conductivity (up to 250 W/m·K)

    • Excellent electrical conductivity

    • High arc erosion resistance

    • Low thermal expansion

    • Good machinability compared to pure tungsten

    • Stable performance under vacuum and high-temperature conditions

    Common Applications:

    • Electrical contacts and circuit breakers in high-voltage equipment

    • Electrodes for EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining)

    • Heat sinks and thermal spreaders in high-power electronics

    • Rocket nozzle liners and aerospace components

    • Resistance welding electrodes and tooling components
