TA1 Titanium Screws

TA1 titanium screws are made from commercially pure titanium (Grade 1), which is known for its excellent corrosion resistance and good formability. This material is characterized by its high corrosion resistance in harsh environments, such as seawater, chemical solutions, and chloride environments. TA1 titanium screws are widely used in industries where high corrosion resistance is critical, but the mechanical strength requirements are not as demanding as those of alloyed titanium grades.

Classification:

  • Key Features:

    • High Corrosion Resistance: TA1 titanium screws have outstanding resistance to corrosion in seawater, chlorides, and many acidic and alkaline environments, making them ideal for marine, chemical, and medical applications.

    • Lightweight: Titanium is much lighter than steel, offering a significant reduction in weight while maintaining decent strength.

    • Good Workability: As commercially pure titanium, TA1 offers excellent formability and weldability, making it easy to fabricate into screws and other fasteners.

    • Biocompatibility: TA1 titanium is non-toxic and biocompatible, which makes it a good choice for medical implants and surgical instruments.

    • Moderate Strength: While TA1 offers lower tensile strength compared to titanium alloys, it provides a balance of strength and flexibility suitable for non-critical applications.

    Common Applications:

    • Marine Engineering: TA1 titanium screws are widely used in marine environments, including offshore oil platforms, boat fittings, and seawater desalination systems, where resistance to corrosion and saltwater exposure is essential.

    • Chemical Processing: Used in chemical reactors, piping, and valves in industries such as petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals where the equipment must resist harsh chemicals.

    • Medical: Surgical screws, dental implants, and orthopedic devices, owing to its excellent biocompatibility and corrosion resistance in the human body.

    • Aerospace: While TA1 may not be as strong as titanium alloys like TC4, it is used in lightweight aerospace applications where high strength is not the primary concern.

    Mechanical Properties (Typical):

    • Tensile Strength: 240-370 MPa

    • Yield Strength: 170-240 MPa

    • Elongation: ≥ 24%

    • Density: 4.51 g/cm³

    • Modulus of Elasticity: 105 GPa

    • Operating Temperature: Typically used in environments with temperatures up to 300°C (572°F)

    Specifications:

    • Material: TA1 (Grade 1 Pure Titanium)

    • Diameter Range: Available in various sizes, commonly from 1mm to 10mm (custom sizes may be available upon request)

    • Standards: GB/T 3621, ASTM B348, ASTM F67 (for medical implants), ISO 5832-3

    Summary:

TA1 titanium screws are an excellent choice when corrosion resistance, lightweight design, and biocompatibility are the primary requirements. Ideal for use in marine, chemical, and medical applications, these screws provide a reliable solution where high strength is not a top priority but the need for durability and resistance to harsh environments is.
