Plasma nitriding of molybdenum products is an important surface treatment technology, mainly enhancing their performance by forming a nitrogen-rich compound layer (such as molybdenum nitride) on the surface of the molybdenum substrate. Its functions include the following aspects:

1.Increase surface hardness

Plasma nitriding forms a nitride layer (such as Mo₂N, MoN) on the molybdenum surface, greatly enhancing surface hardness. This can improve the wear resistance of molybdenum products under high load or high friction conditions.

2.Improve wear resistance

The surface after nitriding is harder and has a lower friction coefficient, effectively reducing wear during sliding or contact processes, thus increasing service life.

3.Enhance corrosion resistance

The nitriding layer can block the corrosion of molybdenum products by oxygen, moisture, and chemicals in the environment, especially suitable for acidic, alkaline, or high-temperature oxidative environments.

4.Improve fatigue resistance

The compressive stress formed on the surface of molybdenum products through the nitriding process helps to improve their fatigue resistance, delaying the initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks.

5.High-temperature oxidation resistance

The molybdenum nitride layer has excellent high-temperature stability, significantly improving oxidation resistance in high-temperature environments, suitable for high-temperature thermal equipment, aerospace, and energy industries.

6.Improve surface lubricity

The nitriding layer reduces surface roughness and enhances self-lubricating properties, suitable for applications in friction pairs or high-speed running components.

7.Enhance chemical erosion resistance

Molybdenum products often come into contact with strong acids, strong bases, or other corrosive media in the chemical industry, and the chemical stability of the nitriding layer can effectively enhance their erosion resistance.

8.Extend service life

By improving surface properties (such as hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, etc.), the service life of molybdenum products is significantly extended, reducing the frequency of replacements due to wear or corrosion.
